scholastic best in grade

I almost can’t believe it, you guys–this year, I won Best in Grade for the Scholastic Midwest region! I won a total of nine awards across five categories and could not be more excited. Like always, all award winners were invited to attend the regional awards celebration at the Belin Blank Center in Iowa City, Iowa. However, this year I was also invited to receive my award on stage in front of everyone at the banquet, as well as read a short section of my award winning story, The Lobster Dinner! This was my first time ever reading in front of a crowd, and boy was I nervous. However, my excitement helped me get over my nerves (that, and practicing my reading on the drive over). I’ve attached some photos of the whole shebang below–thank you again to both the Scholastic Awards and my parents for their support! I can’t wait to see what next year brings!
