2024 ICFA recap

Happy spring break, everyone! Well, happy spring, in my case–I did not have much of a break this past month, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. As mentioned in my previous post, I was flown down to Orlando to attend the International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts to receive my Dell Award alongside the other awardees. It was so much fun! I took a slight detour to go diving in Belize before I got there, so the muggy Florida weather was less of a slap in the face.

I enjoyed every second of the conference. It was great getting to see some old connections of mine from ALPHA, as well as make new friends with the other awardees, some of the grad students presenting there, other authors, and Rick and Sheila! I received so much stellar advice that I eventually gave up on writing it all down, which is a wild thing to say, if you know me. I also collected enough books that I had to send some home with my folks, but that’s par for the course, apparently. Anyway, I learned so much from everyone I met and I’m excited to maintain these new friendships and professional connections into my career going forward. Fingers crossed I’ll get to see everyone again next year!

Here are some photos of me and the other awardees having a blast! Now, off I go to become a certified Wilderness First Responder–I told you my spring break wasn’t really a break!
