Hi everyone! Long time no see! Time sure does fly by when you’re having fun. This week, I graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in Creative Writing, and two minors in History and Medieval and Renaissance Studies. About one month ago, I presented my thesis–30k words of a new science fiction novel, pitched in my previous blog post–to a room full of friends and family, and I couldn’t be happier with where that project was at the time.
So, you may be asking–Emma, what comes next? Well, I’d like to know that too. Currently, my plan is to take a year off and get a job, see the world, and dedicate more time to my writing now that academia doesn’t dominate my life. After that, I intend to go back to school for a combined Master’s Degree in History and Museum Studies, as well as an MLIS. With those degrees, I hope to find a job working for a museum or college special collections archive and do conservation work and educational outreach, and continue my writing on the side.
I do have some super fun news coming up in the next few months, though, so for anyone hoping to see my writing in print, all I’m going to say is “Soon!” Make sure to keep an eye on my website and subscribe to my mailing list if you want to get those updates sent straight to your inbox.
For now, though, the world is my oyster, and I’m off on a grand adventure to see what I find inside!
